About me

Senior Systems Administrator & Team Coordinator | DevOps & Automation Enthusiast

From operating CNC machinery at 16 to architecting high-availability Proxmox clusters today, my career is defined by a relentless drive to build, optimize, and innovate. I bridge the gap between robust system administration and agile DevOps practices, backed by a diverse foundation in ITIL-based service management, full-stack development (.NET/JS), and complex infrastructure migrations.

💻 Professional Profile

As a fierce FOSS advocate and a team leader at Hart, I live and breathe technology. My approach to IT is hands-on and solution-oriented:
* Infrastructure & DevOps: Architecting scalable clusters, managing complex migrations, and streamlining operations.
* Full-Stack Development: Utilizing .NET and JavaScript to build bespoke tools whenever out-of-the-box solutions fall short.
* Community Hosting: Acting as a personal "Cloud Provider," setting up and maintaining servers for friends and side projects.

🔬 The Home Lab & Continuous Learning

I am an enthusiast with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. My free time is largely dedicated to tinkering with my ever-growing (yet always "too small") Home Lab:
* The Break-and-Rebuild Cycle: I thrive on breaking systems just to rebuild them from scratch. I am constantly reconfiguring my network because the "last upgrade" is never truly final.
* Skill Expansion: Discovering new learning paths is my latest obsession. I actively use platforms like KodeKloud and Boot.dev to sharpen my skills and stay ahead of the curve.

🎮 Beyond the Terminal

When I finally step away from the server racks, I enjoy unwinding with electronic entertainment—after all, having powerful servers makes gaming all the more enjoyable. To break up the digital monotony, I also love to pick up a good book, frequently diving into topics surrounding psychology and history.

  • CI/CD & Container Orchestration: Manage source control and continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines. Oversee containerized environments using Docker Swarm, standalone Docker, and Jenkins to maintain deployment agility.
  • Automation & Scripting: Eliminate manual toil by developing custom management tools and automated workflows across Entra ID, Active Directory, Proxmox, Jira, and databases utilizing PowerShell, Python, Bash, and .NET/C#.
  • ITSM, Asset Management & Collaboration: Administer the Atlassian Cloud suite (Jira Service Management, Confluence), GLPi for IT asset management, and oversee enterprise collaboration platforms like Microsoft SharePoint.

🚀 Notable Projects & Initiatives

  • Virtualization Fleet Overhaul (Hyper-V to Proxmox)
Spearheaded the complete migration of the company's virtualization infrastructure from Hyper-V to Proxmox*
Architected and deployed dual 3-node Proxmox High-Availability (HA) clusters alongside standalone nodes, ensuring zero single points of failure and significantly improving resource efficiency.

  • Unified Observability & Monitoring Ecosystem
Architected and deployed a highly available Zabbix Cluster integrated with a distributed network of cloud and on-premise Proxies to guarantee comprehensive, global infrastructure visibility.
Engineered multiple production-grade Elastic Stack ecosystems. Incorporated Fleet Server for centralized agent management and APM servers for deep application performance monitoring, enabling real-time cross-platform analytics and proactive incident response across hybrid environments.

  • DevOps Pipeline Migration
Led the strategic migration of version control and CI/CD operations from Azure DevOps to GitHub, effectively utilizing GitHub Actions and GitHub Packages to streamline development workflows and standardize artifact management.

  • File Management Migration (DSM to SharePoint)
Executed a seamless, company-wide data migration from legacy Synology DSM environments to Microsoft SharePoint, modernizing file sharing, collaboration, and document retention policies.

  • Zabbix AI Analyzer (Custom Tooling)
    Repository: github.com/tulonbaar/zabbix-ai-analyzer
Designed and deployed a middleware proxy using Azure Functions (Python v2 model) to bridge the gap between the Zabbix API and Azure AI Foundry.
This application automates IT operations by fetching real-time incident context—including events and triggers—and forwarding enriched data to an AI Agent for intelligent, multi-step triage and analysis.

  • Pulsebook (Custom Tooling)
    Repository: github.com/tulonbaar/pulsebook
Developed a specialized platform to automate the generation and hosting of XML registries.
Engineered to provide both static and dynamic endpoints, enabling reliable, real-time synchronization with VoIP hardware across the network.
